Description
Bismarckia nobilis
A palm native to Africa, that grows in tropical-subtropical climates. A thick grey trunk supports about 20-30 fronds. Fronds are waxy and thick with thick stems to support them. Stems have thorns and grow abour 10′ long. Leaves are silverish-blue/green in color and wide, reaching almost 10′ in diameter. Fruit pods that hang down about 3′ long are produced in the Spring and are followed by cream colored flowers. Fruit is a bluish color when ripe but not edible. Stems are strong and do not droop leaves.
